I must have been really nice during this year since Santa brought me this high-end Apple Macintosh setup. It’s a 2xQuad-core Xeon Mac Pro. I opened my most cpu-intensive audio compositions in Logic Studio. They took all the power of my iMac to play, and there, I can’t barely see the cpu bar moving….
On the picture, you can see it with its 30 inch cinema display, besides my current iMac and MacBook Pro.
With this setup, I hope to release more music soon !
A new guitar arrangement is available. This tune comes from the soundtrack of Final Fantasy XII. It can be heard during the opening titles. I think that it is featured in other episodes of the series as well, but can’t say which ones for sure.
I did credit Nobuo Uematsu as the original composer, but I’m not sure either that it’s him who wrote this piece initially. Since he did most of the classic episodes soundtrack, I would guess that it’s one of his compositions.
It is available for solo acoustic guitar, as tablature and standard notation.
I noticed recently that some people enjoyed having violently disturbing ringtones set on their mobile phones. I don’t know if my mind is a bit wrong, but it made me think about what could be the most aggressive sound that could be used this way.
I thought about it for a few weeks and ideas came. It ended up in an ultra-violent 17 seconds recording that will make get all your work colleages jump on their chairs every time you’ll get an incoming call !
We will be playing live in Schiltigheim next saturday. It will be outdoors, so we hope that the weather will be nice…
It will take place in Schiltigheim (France, 67), Rue des pompiers (Here is the map).
We will have almost three hours to play all our greatest hits ! In fact, since almost none of our songs last less than ten minutes, we won’t be able to play them all.
I hope to see many of you there. Until then, you can download these two recent pieces:
I left my band when I came to Luxembourg last month. Since then I’m working on some new personal material.
Last week I had a drink in a local Irish Pub and thought that I could play a small acoustic set there. Since I was thinking about buying an acoustic guitar amplifier for a while now, this was the spark that made me go to a shop and buy this nice Marshall AS100D. This one sounds really great, features high-quality built-in effects and offers inputs for 2 instruments, a microphone and an auxiliary unit.
2008 does not start very well for me… I just moved to a new flat during the last 2 weekends. I’m completely tired and I just began coughing a lot today, I think that I may be sick. I spent new year’s eve in front of the TV watching the battle of midway and went to bed before midnight.
The last concert advertised below went really well. Quite strange since we had almost more photographers than audience. I asked a guy I met at our last gig to come and make some photos, but it seems that the singer and the drummer had the same idea. So there were 3 guys taking pictures with huge cameras while we were playing. The worst thing is that I still don’t have any to post here… I will ask Sebastien if he can send me some soon.
Since I moved, I don’t have an internet connexion yet. I had to hack a neighbour’s access point to be able to post this… This means that my chess website chess.mkgi.net is currently down until I find a new way to host it. I’ll try to find a solution tomorrow, because I’m so proud to have so many players every day, I don’t want to lose some.
Oh and Santa came this year to bring me a complete Apple Logic Studio software suite. I’m currently installing this nice piece of software, and I guess that I will soon use it to post some new musical material here.
I will be playing with my band Lest live next monday. It will happen at 8:30PM and the place will be “La Grotte” in Strasbourg.
We have prepared a set which is a bit different from the last one that we did there. We will play a bit longer, and we even prepared some “encores” since last time we had even more time than we exepected. This was because the band that should have played after us never came…
I will probably post a few photos next week for those who won’t be able to come and see us on what will probably be my last gig with my band before I leave for Luxembourg.
Last week I started another project on SourceForge. It is called Sleep Audio. It is a Java software that will generate environmental audio, mainly suited to play during sleep or relaxation.
I discovered environmental music while studying CSound, a high-quality audio generator. Later, I discovered Sleepbot Environmental Broadcast, an mp3 web radio that streams this kind of music.
I was already writing 15min+ progressive rock pieces that some thought as too long, what will they think when I will be able to generate 10hours+ consistent pieces…
Monday, I played a gig with my band “Lest” in a place called “La Grotte” in Strasbourg. I was a bit suspicious since I did not know the place yet and we had to go there without keyboards. But in the end it was really a great show, the first for me since ages ! Next time I will invite more people now that I know how good this club is.
We mixed some old stuff, our “classics” like “The Magician” and “A new friend: The Snake”, with new material and this set was a killer.
I hope we will play more dates around in the next week, nothing confirmed yet, but keep connected for more infos !
