MKGI Chess Club v1.6.0 is out
Thursday, July 26th, 2007I just came back from SourceForge where I uploaded the latest release of my Chess server software.
I did put a lot of energy on this release. The official notes are:
This release features an improved history browser that will display much more information about moves. A ranking system allows to rate every move and suggest better ones if required. A graph is displayed along with the moves list to display relative strength of both sides.

On the development side, major code cleanup in the move management, an improved directory structure to identify server pages from configuration files, and bundled script to fill the database with tips and robot players.
In fact, the game analysis was quite tricky to get working since Gnu Chess, the chess engine I use does not have all the functionalities required built-in. I had to work around to have some serious estimation data.
When the code was done last week, I had to have all the moves already played since the beginning of my site analyzed. A single move can take up to a few minutes and I had my computer on for a few days to compute ratings for all the 124.000+ moves !
I will now start to work on some minor but useful improvements for the next minor feature enhancement release 1.6.1.
If you’re not registered yet, feel free to come and play with me and my pals at chess.mkgi.net.
